No Road Access Issues other than The Kern Canyon is subject to closure because of rock slides. The only other possible access issue would be if you are trying to get to the route across the river.
The rock is a little chossy so be careful for falling rocks and throwing dirt down on your belayer. If you climb here in the summer than you better beat the sun which arrives around 10 a.m.
From Bakersfield take HWY 178 into the Kern Canyon approximately 1.4 miles.

This area is not gated.
Their is camping in the Kern Canyon although it is HOT and Dirty. The company at the campsites is questionable as well.
Just Park at the turnout and the trail is very obvious.
